H.E. Dr. LU Youqing, the Ambassador of the People Republic of China in Tanzania has today handing over the equipment donation from the First Lady of China Madam Peng Liyuan to WAMA Foundation. The handing over ceremony was done at WAMA Foundation office in Kawe, Dar es Salaam.

Speaking at the ceremony H.E. Dr. LU Youqing, commend for the good job done by the Former First Lady and WAMA Chairperson Mama Salma Kikwete. He said that the equipment is donated by the First Lady of China Madam Peng Liyuan, follow her visit to Tanzania with the President of China Xi Jinping in March 2013 where Madam Peng Liyuan visited WAMA Foundation office and made the donation.
H.E. Dr. Lu added that The Former President of Tanzania H.E. Dr. Jakaya Kikwete and his wife Mama Kikwete have done a good job in creating good relationship between two countries Tanzania and China. He highlighted that the Tanzania and China has a long and fruitful relationship and China will continue to support the country in different sectors. He also explained the cooperation that exists between Chinese Embassy in Tanzania and WAMA Foundation.

In her speech the Former First Lady of Tanzania and WAMA Chairperson, Mama Salma Kikwete convey her heartfelt thanks to the Chinese Ambassador in Tanzania Dr. LU Youqing, all the staff at the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania for their continued cooperation and The Economic and Commercial Representation of China in Tanzania: Mr. SUN Chengfeng and Mr. CHAO Chen (Third Secretaries) for coordination of the equipment donation.
“China has become a great friend for Tanzania. And this friendship has a long history since the era of Mao Zedong the Founding Father of the People's Republic of China and the Late Julius Nyerere, The Founding Father of Tanzania Nation. This friendship has continued till today and we have witness the benefits of this friendship. In which China has been able to provide great support in our country in different areas such as industries, road construction, education and other social service. Recently, we have observed the launching of the construction of the large and modern state of art Library at the University of Dar es Salaam that is supported by Chinese Government”, said Mama Kikwete.
She mentioned that WAMA Foundation has also benefitted with the cooperation with Chinese Embassy in Tanzania. The Chinese Embassy has been providing opportunities for WAMA Staff to go to China for the study visit on Promoting China and Africa Relations organized by Chinese Association of International Understanding (CAFIU).
Also in April 2014 WAMA Foundation collaborated with Chinese Ambassador in Tanzania H.E. Dr. LU Youqing for a development trip at the Lake Zone. In this trip Chinese Medical Team were able to provide free health check up at Butiama District Hospital as well as donation of the Anti- Malaria drugs.
The handing over ceremony includes signing of the certificate of the equipment donation. The signing of the certificate was done by H.E. Dr. LU Youqing the Chinese Ambassador in Tanzania and H.E. Mama Salma Kikwete Former First Lady and WAMA Foundation Chairperson.
